Alongside writing and music, photography has always been a passion. Over the years I’ve graduated from developing my own small, grainy, black and white prints taken on a cheap 35mm Kodak, box-camera, to editing Raw digital images captured with a highly sophisticated Nikon digital SLR.
Despite many and varied technological advances, I firmly believe, that the basic principles which make a great photograph have not changed. So although we now all possess equipment which allows us ever greater flexibility and control over our finished images, it’s still important to view the work of other photographers, and be open to advice and new ideas.
I’ve never specialised in taking photos in only one genre. I have always been primarily interested in the power of photography to capture a unique and unrepeatable moment in time. A moment which which may inform, intrigue, instruct, inspire and hopefully, move the observer to view, just for an instant, the world though another’s lens.
